PUBLIC HEALTH
Public Health is the science of preventing, promoting and prolonging life through organized community efforts by promoting healthy lifestyles, prevention and control of communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases.
Public health focuses on prevention is better than cure.
From single intervention, public health saves millions of life. Some interventions are healthy nutrition diet and balance diet, physical exercise, safe drinking water supply, etc.
The function are:
1. Identify, measure, monitor and anticipate community health needs
2. Prevent disease and injuries
3. Promote healthy life styles and good health habits.
4. Organize and ensure high quality, cost effective and health care services
5. Reduce health disparity and ensure access to health care for all
6. Promote and protect a health environment
7. Disseminate health information and mobilize communities to take appropriate action
8. Plan and prepare for natural and manmade disasters
9. Reduce interpersonal violence of and aggressive war
10. Conduct research and evaluate health promoting / disease preventing strategies
11. Develop new methodologies for research and evaluation
12. Train and ensure a competent public health workforce
13. Promote and encourage for healthy behavior
